The Taiwanese tiger was last seen in 1983 and experts believe it has become an extinct animal since its disappearance from view.

Members of the village guard confirmed that they had seen the predator twice during a patrol in the southwestern part of the Taiwan island. The animal was officially listed as extinct in 2013.

Professor Liu Chong-si, a professor of natural sciences at the National University of Taitung, told local media that he had never suspected the animal. According to him, these tigers have not shown to people for decades because they are very cautious.

Since 2018, Guard patrols have been monitoring nearby areas in the hope of watching this tiger.

In a similar incident, in early February, a turtle was found in the Galapagos Islands, considered extinct more than 100 years ago.
